Kindergarten is a time of great growth and development.  Our young learners are curious and full of wonder.  All of our Kindergarten programs are full day programs that follow the QRSD school calendar.  Many of our Kindergarten students enter having had some preschool experience while others may not.  We model our programs to be able to address the needs of all of our learners.

Students participate in multiple activities during the school day that allow them to build their communication and social skills.  This includes morning meeting, snack time, class discussions, partner/group work, lunch, recess activities and more.  Elementary guidance counselors implement lessons from the Second Step curriculum to provide direct instruction in areas such as self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.

QRSD implements high quality research based academic curricula to support all learners.  We currently implement a core literacy program called Into Reading, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and a core math program called Eureka Math, published by Great Minds.  Curriculum for Social Studies and Science are teacher developed and enhanced with online resources such as Mystery Science.

In order to ensure that students are on track academically, we implement benchmark assessments in the areas of literacy and math.  These assessments occur minimally three times per year and progress monitoring may occur in between periods if needed.

All QRSD elementary schools offer a robust Multi Tiered System of Support for academics.  Based upon review of student data, students may be provided with additional interventions and enrichment opportunities.
